Events

At the Unadilla Community Food Pantry, our events are more than dates on a schedule — they’re opportunities to connect, share resources, and show up for one another. From providing access to food through the Community Cupboard of Edmeston and Chobani Mobile Food Pantry to helping families navigate health coverage through our Fidelis Insurance Rep Visits, each gathering is designed with care to meet real needs in our community.

We offer practical help, like SNAP Support and Information Sessions, so families can access the benefits they deserve. We also celebrate the moments that make life sweeter — from handing out treat bags during our Halloween Candy event, to sharing a warm, festive meal through our Holiday Meal Giveaways, to making sure children have access to quality Dental Hygiene Kits and providing gifts to open through our Toy Drive and Giveaway.

Every event is an act of compassion, powered by neighbors, volunteers, and partners who believe no one should face life’s challenges alone. We invite you to join us, whether you need support, want to lend a hand, or simply wish to be part of the kindness that fuels our community.

Event Calendar

Mobile Food Pantry

To better serve neighboring communities, the Community Cupboard of Edmeston and Chobani Mobile Food Pantry provides access to food. This drive-through style distribution is open to all and offers a convenient option for individuals and families who may need additional food assistance. Boxes include clients choice of include shelf-stable goods, fresh produce, proteins, and more—no sign-up or registration required. Volunteers are on hand to assist with loading and directions. Come as you are—we're here to help.

SNAP Info Session

We’re proud to partner with Catholic Charities to offer direct assistance with SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) enrollment. A trained representative is available on-site the 1st Friday of every month to help answer questions, review eligibility, and guide you step-by-step through the application process. If you’re unsure about whether you qualify or how to begin, we’ll connect you with someone who can walk alongside you with care and confidentiality. This service is free and available to all pantry visitors.

Fidelis Insurance Representative Visits

On the last Friday of every month, a representative from Fidelis Care is available by appointment to visit the pantry to answer questions about health insurance options and provide one-on-one assistance with enrolling in affordable coverage. Whether you're uninsured, looking to renew a plan, or simply exploring your options, our Fidelis rep is here to help you navigate your choices with care and clarity. This free service is available to all pantry visitors—no appointment needed.

Resource Fair

Resource Fair with agencies from Otsego and Delaware Counties.

Representatives will be on hand to share information and answer questions about services that support health and wellness, including:

Food assistance and nutrition
Transportation
Medical services
Programs for children and seniors
Heating and energy efficiency resources

Winter Warmup

Launched in Winter 2024 with support from the Community Foundation of Otsego County and a generous private donation from a local family, the Winter Warmup Program provides essential outdoor winter gear—including waterproof insulated boots, snow pants, winter coats, hats, mittens, and scarves—for children from birth through 6th grade.

The Unadilla Food Pantry leads this effort in collaboration with the Otego Food Pantry,
Opportunities for Otsego’s Head Start program in Unadilla, and the Unatego Elementary School Backpack Program, working together to meet the needs of children across the Unatego area.

Halloween Candy

During the month of October, we distribute a Halloween treat bag to give to every pantry child so they have a festive treat and can take part in a safe, sweet celebration. When possible, we also share candy bags with pantry families to have the chance to join in trick-or-treating.

Toy Drive & Giveaway

Held on the second Saturday in December, our Toy Giveaway is open to all pantry clients with children in the household. Thanks to generous support from local donors, grants, and businesses, we offer new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages — from toddlers to teens. We provide a variety of options so caregivers can choose what best fits their child.

Clients can sign up for the Toy Giveaway during their regular November monthly visit.

Birthday Cake Kits

We provide a birthday kit for every child ages 1–17 during their birthday month. Each kit includes everything needed to bake a cake — pan, cake mix, frosting, vegetable oil — plus candles, napkins, and plates. This ensures every pantry child can enjoy a birthday cake as part of their celebration.

November/December and Spring Holiday Meal Giveaway

Each year, we host special holiday meal giveaways to ensure families can celebrate with dignity, warmth and a full table. These giveaways are in additional to monthly distribution. Our November and December giveaways include full meal kits with meats, fruits and vegetables, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, cranberry sauce and desserts.

Volunteers are on site during giveaway events to help distribute food and ensure that each family receives what they need.

Dental Hygiene Kits

Our dental health kits are funded entirely through program-specific donations and grants. Each kit contains an age-appropriate toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste. Dental floss is provided for everyone older than toddlers. Kits are available as a selected option during any month’s visit and are available to every Food Pantry family member during February’s Dental Health Month.

Mohawk Valley Gives

Mohawk Valley Gives is the region’s largest community-wide day of giving, supporting nonprofits in Herkimer, Oneida, and Otsego counties. Launched in 2022 and powered by the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties and the UpMobility Foundation, the event brings together residents, businesses, and nonprofits to create meaningful local impact. Through donations, challenges, and incentives, it raises vital funds, builds community connections, and increases awareness of nonprofit work. In 2025, Mohawk Valley Gives raised over $6.4 million to strengthen organizations that enhance the region’s quality of life. The Unadilla Community Food Pantry is a registered nonprofit and proud participant in Mohawk Valley Gives.
